IEDA STRUCTURE
From inception, IEDA had conformed to a two-tier operational system whereby the National body and the different chapters existed. Ad-hoc committees were formed as at when necessary. The President presided over meetings, both executive and AGM. The chapters are headed by chairmen and supported by their other executives.
Following the election of Engr. Femi Kupolati on 26th December, 2014, a slight innovative change had been introduced into the structure of IEDA. While both the National body and its constituent Chapters remained as before, IEDA now has four standing committees which are saddled with different functions. These committees report to the executive. The four committees are: . Civic and Rights Committee: This committee is chaired by the President himself. It is a committee saddled with the functions of ensuring a good living relationship among the constituents of the town. It would formulate policies on harmonious relationships between Iye and our neighbours both within and around Iye as a town. The committee is also the one to work in consonance with “IYEPEJU” on chieftaincy matters and also dabble into the resolutions of conflicts when and if they did arise. During Iye Day, this committee will also work with the appropriate bodies to nominate people for awards. . Education and Youth Affairs Committee: This committee is being presently chaired by our erudite scholar, Dr. Oriola Fasanmi. This committee, apart from periodically organizing career talks, quiz competitions, debates and symposia for the youths of our town, will equally come up with an operational framework for Youth Development and empowerment within the town. These activities are subject to periodic evaluation with the purpose of upgrading. Physical Planning and Development Committee: This committee is being presently headed by Hon. (Chief) Segun Akinwumi, an urban and regional planning expert. The committee is to oversee the physical development of the town in terms of layout and physical planning. The committee is expected to come up with an operational framework/policy that would ensure that houses and other structures are not haphazardly scattered all over the place, but conform to a laid-down plan developed by this committee. Women Development, Empowerment and Economic Committee: This committee which is being presently chaired by Hon. (Mrs.) Iyabo Fakunle-Okeimen, the Vice President II, is saddled with the responsibility of developing a framework within which the women of the town could be actively involved in the economic development our town. It is a committee expected to map out a policy on gender equity, women empowerment and the economic development of our town. |
